Flexible Chimney Flue Liner & Fitting Kits

  • When installing a stove in a fireplace it is always recommended to re-line the existing chimney with a quality Flexible Flue Liner.

The use of a Flexible Liner solves the traditional problems of open chimneys such as unsound brickwork, leaking tar and a volume of air too large to efficiently heat. By reducing the diameter of the flue and creating a sealed system from stove to chimney pot, you truly maximise the potential of your Wood Burning or Multi-Fuel Stove.

Please select from the Glowing Embers range of 316L or 904L Helix Premium Flue Liners below for a choice of internal diameters.

  • HETAS always insists that a flue liner is used within the chimney connected to the single walled flue pipe rising up from the stove. In some instances, HETAS installers will ask that any old existing flue liner is replaced with a new liner when putting in a new stove. The flue liner will ensure that there is no leakage of smoke or gasses into your room.

  • The flue liner (also referred to as a twin skinned flue liner) is dropped down the chimney. The single walled flue pipe (enamelled or stainless steel) coming from the stove and travelling through the Register Plate is then connected to the flue liner via an adapter. You may find it helpful to refer to diagrams available on our site which break down the installation process into its component parts. Note, never use single skinned flue liner as these are not able to withstand the heat from a wood burning stove - they are for use with gas stoves only.

There are a number of different flexible flue liner parts required to construct your installation. These parts can be purchased separately or purchased as a kit. A principle point to note is that the types of parts required will depend on whether you are using an existing chimney pot, or are either replacing an existing chimney pot or have no chimney pot. In the case of the latter you would purchase a kit which includes a chimney cowl.

Smoke pellets can be used to test the safety of the system when the installation has been completed. We recommend testing your installation with smoke pellets at least once after each year of use.

It is important to note that a HETAS engineer must sign off the installation as safe and complete. Alternatively an appropriately qualified representative of your local council can also certify the installation.

  • Glowing Embers Flexible Chimney Flue Liner Fitting Kits provide you with everything you need to connect a flue liner to your stove and secure it in place.

After selecting your length and grade of flexible flue liner, simply add the appropriate Fitting Kit for your liner diameter and chimney type. All kits come with a nose cone and notice plate as standard.

Not sure which kit you need? Please choose your installation from the list below to identify the correct kit for you:

Installing a Flexible Flue Liner

Installing flexible flue liner is a relatively simple process, but one which does require access to your roof. Secured via a Clamp or Hanging Cowl at the top, the liner is dropped down the chimney with a nose cone on the leading edge. Any arrows printed on the liner indicate the direction of flue gases and must point upwards. The liner is then connected to the stove with a piece of single wall pipe. For a step by step guide please see the Glowing Embers Chimney Installs or telephone one of our experienced advisors.
