If you would like installation of a wood burning stove or other heating appliance, we can survey your home to check for suitability and our qualified installers. Whether you need just an installation or also require some building work and alterations to your chimney or fireplace, installation of hearths, unblocking chimneys, mantlepiece installation, we can complete the job and leave you with the perfect installation that will be a feature in your home for years to come.

We cover all of Braintree, Chelmsford and surrounding areas. We offer two basic installation prices for wood burning stove installations, which are below. Prices for other installations and additional building work will be subject to survey.

Terms & Conditions

  1. All site surveys and installations undertaken on behalf of Volsom Ltd are for solid fuel, closed heating appliances and associated flue systems only. You must consult the advice of a Gas Safe registered engineer for gas stove removals and/or installations.
  2. All site surveys and installations undertaken on behalf of Volsom Ltd are done so by HETAS approved solid fuel stove and flue engineers (Hetas registration number available upon request).
  3. All site surveys and installations undertaken on behalf of Volsom Ltd are in full accordance with Approved Document J of the current Building Regulations for England & Wales and on no occasion will we deviate from this.
  4. The purpose of an industry standard site survey is to ascertain ‘within reason’, the opportunity for the installation of a solid fuel, closed heating appliance and the type of flue system required (Existing Chimney, Internal Twin Wall or External Twin Wall) and does not guarantee the possibility of an installation on behalf of Volsom Ltd.
  5. A site survey is not final and issues which require addressing before installation can be attempted may arise. Volsom Ltd will on all occasions work with the customer and installer to address any issues in a time and cost-efficient manner as swiftly as they are identified.
  6. It is the sole responsibility of the property owner to ensure a fire place, intended site for a stove/flue or chimney are fully accessible for a site survey inspection and/or installation. This can require (but not limited to) the removal of an existing stove, building works completed or capped chimneys opened.
  7. All areas to be inspected must be made clear and accessible before the arrival of the installer, with the exception of roof access. Failure to do so can incur extra costs, delays or cancellation of the installation.
  8. It is not possible on all occasions to inspect the condition of a roof and/or chimney stack during a site survey due to issues concerning access and working at heights (please see part 5).
  9. The Site Survey fee is to be paid upfront and is non-refundable on all occasions (including fuel costs where applicable), whether the installation proceeds or not. Volsom Ltd takes no responsibility should an installation not take place whether due to unforeseen circumstances or any part of these Terms & Conditions.
  10. Volsom Ltd maintains the right to cancel a site survey and/or installation and will in this circumstance fully refund the installation fee..
  11. Upon completion of a site survey, the installer will provide their report to Volsom Ltd only for the purposes of ascertaining the opportunity to proceed with the installation. Site survey reports are not available for the customer to view.
  12. It is the responsibility of the customer to notify Volsom Ltd of any mitigating factors that could affect a stove and/or flue installation such as (but not limited to) if the building is listed, must conform to additional local laws or is sited in a smokeless zone (for Defra approval). Failure to do so can incur time delays and additional costs.
  13. Any amendments made to a property between initial contact and a site survey or site survey and the installation which may affect a stove and/or flue installation are at the liability of the customer and must be communicated to Volsom Ltd at the earliest opportunity (please see part 6 & 7).
  14. If a site survey cannot be performed (property is not made available or is a ‘new build’ for example), the customer proceeds with the installation process entirely at their own risk.
  15. Our Hetas approved team of installers fulfil solid fuel, closed heating appliance and flue installations on behalf of Volsom Ltd and operate strictly on a contractor basis in a self-employed capacity.
  16. Volsom Ltd take no responsibility for consequential loss as the result of installation works. This includes (but is not limited to) loss of earnings due to absence from employment or additional charges for incurred for the hiring of equipment/trades people due to installation delays.
  17. All works undertaken on behalf of Volsom Ltd carry a 12-month warranty from the date of installation. This does not affect the manufacturer’s warranty a product may offer.
  18. It is the responsibility of the end user to ensure the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of a stove and/or flue system. A sweep of the system must be performed at minimum once annually by a registered chimney sweep and all perishable parts replaced. Failure to do so may impact any warranty on labour or parts.
